Ylichron is a spin off company of ENEA (the Italian Agency for the New Technologies, the Energy and the Environment),
aimed at designing and developing efficient HW/SW computing solutions for the customer needs.
Depending on the problems and on the user needs, Ylichron solutions are based on the efficient implementation of
algorithms either on ad hoc designed parallel architectures, built on top of the FPGA technology, or on
'off the shelf' architectures, both conventional and parallel, programmed to solve the customer needs in a fast and reliable
way.
Ylichron owns a software technology to efficiently and rapidly design dedicated parallel architectures starting from
specifics expressed through a conventional ANSI-C program. This technology has been developed within the research activities of
the Ylichron founders within ENEA and is currently improved through the HARWEST project (funded by MIUR, the Italian
ministry for the scientific and technological research).
Ylichron know-how covers a broad range of topics, from optimization to the simulation of physical phenomena, from
bioinformatics to the analysis of images and signals, from parallel processing to the design of embedded parallel architectures.
The name Ylichron comes from the fusion of the Greek words ulh (matter) and
cronos (time), to indicate that Ylichron, being born to give efficient answers
to computational problems arising in technical and scientific fields, implements algorithms onto parallel architectures
optimizing both the number of resources used (ulh) and the scheduling of such resources (
cronos).
Ylichron offices are inside the ENEA-Casaccia Research Center, close to the beautiful Bracciano lake, just 30 Km north
of Rome.
